Our Community

St Luke's Primary School Wantirna

Our school recognises the important role that parents play in the education of their children, where we believe that parents are the primary educators of their own children. At St Luke's our aim is to create inclusive Family-School partnerships and welcome opportunities to further develop the relationships between our school and the parent community. Research shows that when parents and schools work together, student outcomes increase.

There are many opportunities to become involved in the life of our school:

  • Parents and Friends Committee

  • School Advisory Board

  • School Banking Program

  • Classroom helpers

  • Fun Food days

  • Parish

  • SAKG Program

  • Excursions/Incursions

  • Volunteers Program

  • Perceptual Motor Program (PMP)

  • Play Group - twice a week. Please contact the office for more information about.

We welcome any opportunity to foster the wonderful partnership between our school and our parents, working together for the benefit of the children.

St Luke’s utilises a range of tools to stay connected with our families and the community. A school newsletter is published weekly on Fridays to both share events from the week and keep the community informed of upcoming events. Important notices and communications are shared to parents using the Operoo (formally CareMonkey) app, this app also allows parents to update student information easily and share it with the school. The Prep to Year 4 class regularly use the Seesaw app to share student learning and communicate with families.

Throughout the year there are a number of opportunities for families to attend school events to support their children’s learning and connect with other members of the community. These events vary from celebrating Masses, curriculum based evenings, information nights, Sacramental ceremonies, musicals, art shows, sports carnivals to social activities specifically designed to develop community. These events are always well attended and enjoyed by students, their families and the staff.

Parish Connection

The students and staff of St Luke's School are well supported by both our Parish Priest, Fr Joseph Amal and the parent community.

School Advisory Board

The St Luke’s School Advisory Board (SAB) consists of a wide cross-section of parents in the school community. The primary role of the SAB is to support the Principal and Parish Priest by providing advice on educational matters within the context of the school’s vision and mission statements.

School parents that would like to be on the School Advisory Board, will submit an application when a spot of the Board becomes available.
